On July 19, Steve Kraus, Manager of Media Relations for Madison Gas and Electric,released the following statement:
Madison Gas and Electric set an all-time record for electricity demand today between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The company supplied 753 megawatts of power to its nearly 140,000 customers. The previous power consumption record of 742 megawatts was set on July 31, 2006. Electricity supplies and transmission operations are adequate to meet even higher power demands expected tomorrow and later this week.
