Madison College: To offer concealed carry handgun safety course

Wisconsin’s new concealed carry law goes into effect on November 1, but before someone can get a permit to carry a concealed weapon they must first receive special training and pass a background check.

Madison Area Technical College is offering a “Concealed Carry and Handgun Fundamentals Safety Course” at its West campus on Saturday, October 8. The six hour course meets the training requirements required by the state’s concealed carry law.

The course will cover: Basic knowledge of firearm safety Weapon handling and malfunction solutions Legal responsibilities of firearm ownership and use Personal decision making on possessing and using a firearm

The cost of the course is $99. You must be at least 21 years old and legally eligible to possess a firearm in Wisconsin. The registration deadline is September 28.
