By next fall, students at Madison Area Technical College’s Reedsburg campus will be enjoying a new library, student achievement center, active learning classrooms and a state-of-the-art TelePresence videoconferencing room.

It’s all part of a new 8,500 square foot addition that’s being constructed at the campus. The $2.3 million project, which was approved by nearly 60 percent of voters in a referendum last year, is expected to be completed in August.

“Our number one goal is student success,” says Madison College President Bettsey Barhorst. “This expansion will help us continue to meet the growing demand for highly skilled workers by providing students with easy access to academic support and services.”

The building project also includes 6,100 square feet of renovations at the campus.

“Besides a new Commons area and more restrooms, the renovation and expansion will provide much-needed space for our students and academic programs,” says John Alt, director of economic and workforce development for Madison College’s northern region. “The project will also help boost our community and business partnerships.”

A number of area businesses are involved in the campus construction project. They include Zobel and Sons, D.L. Gasser, Portage Glass and LF Painting.
