Starting next fall, students at Madison Area Technical College’s Fort Atkinson campus will be enjoying a new library, student achievement center and a state-of-the-art active learning classroom.

It’s all part of a 7,300 square foot addition that’s being constructed at the campus. Funding for the $1.8 million expansion was approved by voters in a referendum last year. The project is scheduled to be completed by next August.

“Student success is our number one goal,” says Madison College President Bettsey Barhorst. “This expansion will help us continue to meet the growing demand for highly skilled workers by providing students with easy access to academic support and services.”

The building project also includes a 5,200 square foot renovation of the campus.

“We’re especially excited about our new advanced manufacturing lab which will help the campus address the skills gap that has been identified by manufacturers in Jefferson County and the greater Madison College region,” says Lynn Forseth, Madison College’s executive director of economic and workforce development—eastern region.

The College is also expanding and renovating regional campuses in Watertown, Reedsburg and Portage. To learn more about Madison College’s campus building projects, go to http://matcmadison.edu/construction-update.
