Kicks Unlimited Middleton Effort to Benefit Domestic Violence Group

Kicks Unlimited Middleton, http://www.kicks4middleton.com will hold a free women’s selfdefense seminar from 3 -5 PM on September 17th at its 2831 Parmenter St, Ste 290 location. The event will benefit Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, a Dane County based domestic violence prevention organization that provides services including the county’s only domestic violence safe house, children’s programs, support groups and crisis response assistance. “One in four women and their children will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime and we are so grateful that Kicks Unlimited is helping us bring awareness to this issue,” said DAIS Executive Director Shannon Barry.

Attendees are encouraged to make a donation at the event to support these vital domestic violence prevention programs. Participants will learn simple basic steps that can save their lives, eliminate threatening situations by using their body to protect themselves. “Kicks Unlimited is successful because of the support of the communities we serve. Giving back to these communities is our duty and I cannot think of a better way than to teach them how to keep themselves safe in these uncertain times,” said Mathiam Mbow, owner Kicks Unlimited Middleton.

This event is part of the continued effort by Kicks Unlimited Middleton to be a strong local community partner.”DAIS is thrilled to be the beneficiary of this great community event,” Barry said. Last month, this commitment resulted in raising over $450 for the American Red Cross Badger & South Central Wisconsin Region chapter at the annual Middleton Good Neighbor Festival. It has also behind the effort to offer $1,000 college scholarships to Kicks Unlimited Middleton students to encourage academic achievement.

This seminar will be taught by Mathiam Mbow, Kicks Unlimited Middleton’s owner /head instructor, who has an extensive martial arts background including a 3rd Degree Black Belt in ITF TaeKwon-Do and American TaeKwon-Do. Each week, Mbow teaches over a hundred youth and adults an extensive variety of martial art training and kickboxing classes. “Teaching martial arts for me is not only about teaching somebody how to kick or punch. Through martial arts, I help people build strong moral character and push themselves to reach their full potential. This is the way of the martial arts nothing more, nothing less, “Mbow said.
