Janesville, Wis. — On December 1, 2011 at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, in Madison, WI, J. P. Cullen & Sons, Inc. (Cullen) along with the City of Whitewater, Whitewater Community Development Authority, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Eppstein Uhen Architects will receive the Build Wisconsin Award for New Construction from the Associated General Contractors Association of Wisconsin (AGC). Cullen was the construction manager for the Innovation Center with Eppstein Uhen as the architect.
In support of the project’s new award, the Innovation Center has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification. The final LEED rating reflects 39 documented and approved points under the LEED for New Construction rating system. The Innovation Center is an inventive example of sustainable design that demonstrates leadership in transforming the building industry and for future developmental success within south central Wisconsin. The Gold certification is the second highest accreditation behind Platinum that is given by the U.S. Green Building Council.
