Character First began in 1992 by Tom Hill, chairman of Kimray Inc., a world leader in the manufacturing of industrial control devices based in Oklahoma City. In less than two years of implementing Character First, Kimray’s worker’s compensation costs decreased 80 percent and experienced a 25 percent increase in profits, even though the market was depressed. Since then, Character First has spread around the United States and the world, visiting 27 countries. Hill and Kimray were recently featured in the public television documentary, “Doing Virtuous Business” with more than a dozen other inspirational business success stories. Hill has also written “Making Character First”, a book recently published by Character First Publishers.

American Opinion Foundation and The John Birch Society have recently added Character First development to their employee training.
