Borski will present to district leaders from across Wisconsin

(Appleton, WI) Hoffman LLC senior project architect Mike Borski will present ideas on how school districts can lower energy savings in their facilities during the 2011 Wisconsin State Education Convention being held in Milwaukee, January 19th – 21st. Borski, who has extensive experience in the design, renovation, and new construction of educational facilities, will co-present with two other topic experts to offer insight and advice to educators and administrators from across the state.

“I’m looking forward to discussing how, by utilizing the available tools and funding sources, districts can lower energy costs in their schools,” Borski stated. “In many cases the ideas we will be presenting can be applied to schools regardless of when they were built. A facility built 40 years ago or even 10 years ago can realize a cost savings if a proper plan is developed and implemented.”

Hoffman has worked with more than 55 public school district, private school, and charter school clients throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois and is an industry leader in sustainable design and construction. As the lead architect for the design of River Crest Elementary School in Hudson, Wisconsin, Borski was instrumental in helping the school become the first elementary school in Wisconsin, and the second public elementary school in the country, to receive Gold under the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Schools Rating System.

“While River Crest is a great example of using energy efficient materials and practices, not every school can or should become LEED certified,” Borski stated. “My goal is to inform school districts about the tools and resources available to create a more energy efficient facility and help reduce their costs.”

The Wisconsin State Education Convention brings together hundreds of school leaders each year to foster effective school board practices for student success through workshops, and other education programs.
