(Appleton, WI) Hoffman LLC was named a 2011 Citation of Merit winner by DESIGN/Environments for Aging, a long-term care and senior care design competition. The award recognizes the Appleton-based planning, design, and construction firm for its design of Eden Meadows, Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh’s (LHO) new 77-acre campus.
Opened in July of 2010, Eden Meadows features Eden Rehabilitation Suites, a state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility for short-term rehabilitation, and two Eden Green House® Homes—the first facilities of their kind in Wisconsin.
The details of the facilities include:
* Eden Rehabilitation Suites: The premier environment for short-term recovery following knee and hip replacements, surgeries or accidents, and other illnesses, these modern rehabilitation suites take advantage of household design concepts and feature an extensive therapy program.
* Eden Green House Homes: Based on the national Green House model, which uses a person-centered approach to providing skilled nursing care, these homes offer residents an environment that looks and feels like home as opposed to an institutional nursing home.
LHO partnered with Hoffman to develop a campus that incorporated environmentally friendly strategies while creating an atmosphere that would provide operational efficiencies for the staff and be welcoming for residents. “Because there was a strong desire to get the right feeling of ‘home’ while balancing the functional and operational needs of care, a great deal of collaboration was required throughout the planning and design process,” stated Julie Heiberger, project architect for Hoffman. “The end result was a responsible business solution that meets the needs of the staff and residents of Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh.”

Hoffman’s Eden Meadows project is one of five projects that will receive a Citation and will be recognized in March at the Environments for Aging conference in Atlanta.
