High school’s auditorium to undergo facelift
(Appleton, WI) Hoffman LLC, a planning, design and construction firm in Appleton, has been selected by Notre Dame Academy to renovate their 900-seat auditorium in Green Bay.
“Our auditorium is a multifunctional area,” explained Robert Pauly, president of Notre Dame Academy. “It’s the place we celebrate our all-school liturgies, so we need it to be a sacred space for worship. At the same time, we want a rich, theatrical space for our shows. With the help of Hoffman, we plan on this being a showcase space that we can use and treasure for many years to come.”
The scope of the project includes a complete renovation of the auditorium which was originally built in1954 and lightly remodeled most recently in 1996-97. “The interior of the auditorium is rather old and muted and school officials recognized that it was time for a much needed remodel,” commented Catherine Cruickshank, senior project designer with Hoffman. “Our goal is to work collaboratively with the school to create a more colorful and vibrant environment for students, staff and the public.”
Hoffman will be replacing the old and energy-inefficient lighting system as well as the carpeting. In addition, the entire facility will be repainted and new wood trim will be added. “We will be making improvements to the interior of the auditorium as well as creating more of a presence with its primary entrance within the school,” Cruickshank stated.
A theatrical consultant is collaborating with Hoffman to replace the stage curtain and rigging and sound systems.
Construction of the auditorium is scheduled to begin in June and will be completed in August, just in time for the start of the 2011-2012 school year.
