Madison—Today Governor Walker signed Senate Bill 147, legislation that allows up to 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits for an eligible worker who has exhausted the regular and emergency unemployment benefits.

“Earlier this year I asked for an unemployment benefit extension and today I am signing a bill that received bipartisan support,” said Governor Walker. “I would like to thank Senator Wanggaard and Representative Ballweg for bringing this bill forward and working to get it through the legislative process. By signing this bill we will be helping thousands of Wisconsin families get through tough times. While this extension helps, the most important thing we can do is create more jobs. Job creation has been our focus since my first day in office. We are on track with 39,000 private sector jobs created since taking office, but there is a lot of work left to do.”
