Madison – Today Governor Walker signed into law AB 148, the Bill to Pay the Bills. AB 148 was introduced by Representatives Warren Petryk and Tom Larson and passed with bipartisan support. The legislation will pay for unfunded lapses left by the previous administration, prevent delaying the next school aid payment and direct the state to pay back the Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund and other bills.
After years of putting off our bills and delaying the tough decisions the state is finally getting its fiscal house in order. We are paying off long overdue bills that were left behind by previous legislatures and administrations. Like families all across Wisconsin, our priority is balancing our checkbook and paying off our bills so that we can begin focusing on the future. Representatives Petryk and Larson and other members of the legislature should be commended for their commitment to fiscal responsibility.
