Madison–Today Governor Walker announced the appointment of Laurie McCallum to the Labor and Industry Review Commission. Laurie has done substantive work with unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and equal rights issues over her thirty-three years of public service related to the field of employment law.

Laurie has been appointed a commissioner, first of the Personnel Commission, for which she served as chairperson for thirteen years, and more recently of the Labor and Industry Review Commission, by four Wisconsin governors, both Republican and Democrat. She attended college as a National Merit Scholar, was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Arizona, and received her law degree from Southern Methodist University. Laurie has been a strong advocate for the visually impaired, and was named Wisconsin’s First Person of Vision by the Combat Blindness Foundation, and received a Distinguished Public Service Award from the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and the University of Wisconsin.

“Laurie’s extensive public service experience will be a huge asset and great addition to the Labor and Industry Review Commission,” said Governor Walker. “She will be a fantastic addition to the team that will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs by 2015.”
