MADISON – Governor Scott Walker announced today that 1102 South Park, LLC based in Wausau, will receive a $250,000 Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to help cover environmental clean-up expenditures that will be incurred in the building of the new Wingra Family Medical Center in Madison. This redevelopment project significantly expands health care access, and creates 19 new medical jobs.

The award will reimburse 1102 South Park, LLC for remediation expenditures in the construction of the 74,000 square foot medial center complex located on the former Bancroft Dairy site near the intersection of Park Street and Fish Hatchery Road in Madison. The completed Wingra Family Medical Center will accommodate an increase in patient visits from 20,000 to 30,000 per year.

The Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment Program (BEBR) provides funding to assist local governments, businesses and individuals with assessing and remediating the environmental contamination of an abandoned, idle or underused industrial or commercial facility or site.

For additional information about the BEBR Program, contact Al Rabin, WEDC, at 608/267-8926.
