Fond du Lac County EDC: Basic American Medical Products announces major facility expansion

Keller Planners, Architects and Builders chosen as general contractor

Basic American Medical Products, a GF Health Products, Inc. factory brand, announced today a major facility expansion that will add 40,000 square feet of manufacturing space to its Fond du Lac, Wis. facility. The space will house a new, state of the art fiber optic laser tube cutting system.

“As an integral part of our Made In USA Strategic Initiative, this expansion will allow us to manufacture our products more efficiently, making us even more competitive,” said Kurt Hellman, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. “We are committed to manufacturing as many of our products as possible here in the United States. We recently constructed a new facility in Atlanta, Ga. to manufacture our line of Lumex Specialty Seating Products and this significant investment in our Fond du Lac, Wis. facility demonstrates our continued commitment to creating jobs locally and manufacturing in the United States,” added Hellman.

The Basic American Medical Products is one of the largest manufacturers of healthcare beds in the world. “Our products are used in a variety of very demanding environments. Quality is an absolute requirement of products used in healthcare facilities and we believe that the team we have in place in Fond du Lac, combined with state of the art manufacturing equipment and techniques, gives us an advantage in quality that cannot be matched anywhere in the world,” said Hellman. Added Bob Heus, Director of Production Operations, “This major manufacturing space expansion, fiber optic laser installation and a commitment to producing high quality products translates to a more competitive company for the present and more importantly for the future. The market for our products will continue to grow each year for the foreseeable future and these investments will enable us to remain a competitive force in the healthcare market.”

“Helping to make this project reality is the support of Fond du Lac County, the City of Fond du Lac and the great work of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation,” Hellman said.
