The Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is pleased to announce the opening of a new business accelerator – the Center for Enterprise Development (The Center).

A first in Wisconsin, this space is built on a foundation of creativity meant to speed up the development of starts-ups and existing companies in the region by offering valuable services, a menu of resources, space to work, and assistance from professional staff. If innovation could be captured in a space, it would be The Center, original thinking for original thinkers.

“FCEDC has continued to see an increase in people interested in starting businesses and existing businesses wanting to expand or become more efficient,” says FCEDC President Brenda Hicks-Sorensen. “The Center for Enterprise Development will fulfill a need that assists businesses in their success in the future economy and build on a healthy economy for Fond du Lac County.”

“One of the most important ways we can help entrepreneurs build their businesses is by providing strong support on the front end,” said Department of Commerce Secretary Paul Jadin. “I am pleased that we could help our partners at the FCEDC create an environment that supports innovation and business growth.”

The Center was announced at an open house on Thursday, February 3rd and was made possible, in part, through a $30,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce via the Forward Innovation Fund.

Located on two levels of FCEDC at 116 North Main Street in Fond du Lac, the Center is a three-dimensional consulting service for use by promising and current business owners to shorten the time required to attract capital and customers.

With its comfortable and colorful furnishings, creative “toy box,” and high-end technology, The Center is ideal for expanding an innovative idea and also brainstorming sessions, casual meet-ups, formal meetings, and training classes. In addition, The Center offers shared work space for the business owner who either requires the use of the office equipment or just needs a quiet space to work.
