MINNEAPOLIS—(April 27, 2011)—Representatives from Fireside Hearth & Home announced today that Dan and Rita Vosters of Madison, Wis., are the lucky winners of the Fireside Hearth & Home 2011 Fireplace Facelift Contest. They will receive a new fireplace makeover valued at $5000.
Now in its fourth year, the Fireplace Facelift Contest happens during March and April. Contest participants submit a photoof the room where they’d like a fireplace facelift, along with a short description about why they’d like an upgrade. Some would like to have a fireplace installed in a room that doesn’t currently have one, and some want to upgrade an existing fireplace.
The Vosters have owned their home since their children, who are now in college, were young. “It’s time for our home to be reborn, and our fireplace is begging for some help,” they said as part of their contest entry. They plan to renovate their dated wood-burning fireplace with a new, efficient gas fireplace and updated stone surround.
The Vosters have met with Fireside Hearth & Home consultants to begin the process of renovating their fireplace. The project will be completed in the coming weeks.
“Hundreds of thousands of U.S. homes have open wood-burning masonry fireplaces like the Vosters currently have, which can exhaust 300 cubic of a heated room air every minute they burn,” said Jeff Voss, division manager at Fireside Hearth & Home. “That means that 18,000 cubic feet of heated air can escape the home every hour, in effect drawing cold air into the home through the windows and doors. The Vosters have chosen a Heat & Glo direct vent gas fireplace that is highly efficient with the convenience of gas.”
The Fireplace Facelift Contest is provided and paid for by Fireside Hearth & Home. Winners receive everything needed for their new fireplace upgrade, including design consultation, the fireplace or insert, new stone, installation and required permits.
