When: Thursday, March 31, 2011

Time: 7:00 pm

Where: Edgewood College

Anderson Auditorium

1000 Edgewood College Drive

Madison, WI

Notes: Please join us for a special evening as we hear from authors Shannon Meehan and Roger Thompson of Beyond Duty. The publisher describes the book as “the true story of one soldier’s attempt to reconcile what he has done with what he felt he had to do. Stark and devastating, it recounts firsthand the reality of a new type of warfare that remains largely unspoken.”

That soldier, Shannon Meehan, was in command of an army unit serving in Iraq in 2007 when he ordered an artillery strike on a house. The strike destroyed the house and killed everyone inside – but they weren’t enemy combatants. They were a father, a mother, and children.

Today, Meehan is an author and advocate for veterans. “In recent months I’ve been trying to honor those lives I took by writing and speaking in public about my experience, to show that those deaths are not tucked neatly away in a foreign land.”

There is no admission charge – seating is limited
