Edgewood College: Distinguished alumni to be honored

Madison, Wis. (Oct. 3, 2011) –The School of Business at Edgewood College is pleased to announce its 5th Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards for Ethical Leadership and Community Service. The 2011 Honorees are Enzo Ciarletta, MBA ‘97, and Kay Jensen, MBA ’00.

A celebration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the Washburn Heritage Room on the Edgewood College campus will feature a keynote address from Dave Wittwer, President and CEO of TDS Telecom. Outstanding faculty awards will be presented to Amie Dragoo and Lynea Lavoy, EdD ‘11. Graduate student scholarships will also be awarded. Tickets are $25.00, and an RSVP is required, please.

Dave Wittwer joined TDS Telecom in 1983 and was appointed president and CEO in 2006. Dave has a BA in Business from UW-Whitewater, a Master’s degree from UW-Madison specializing in management and quality, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Dave also serves on the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the UW-Whitewater Business and Economics Advisory board.

Distinguished Alumni Award Winners:

Enzo Ciarletta, MBA ’97 joined CUNA Mutual Group’s Customer Contact Technologies group in 2008 as the IT Manager, responsible for providing Information Technology support to more than 600 contact center agents across three states. Previously, he spent 17 years with TDS Telecom and served more than 20 years with the United States Marine Corps Reserve, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer-3. In addition to his leadership role at CUNA Mutual Group, Ciarletta serves his community as a volunteer firefighter, as president of his home owner’s association, and as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Kay Jensen, MBA ’00 is co-owner and farmer with her husband Paul of JenEhr Family Farm. Previously she worked with Wisconsin Public Radio, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, and Johnson Hill Press/Cygnus Publishing, taught technical writing and public speaking at UW for ten years, and traveled worldwide selling large grain handling equipment. JenEhr Family Farm employs a hard-working staff, and provides high quality organic food to more than 600 families each week through their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), Farmers Markets, and wholesale to grocery stores and cooperatives throughout the Midwest. JenEhr Family Farm creates an ecologically, socially and financially sustainable system for their family and community.

Outstanding Faculty Award Winners:

Amie Dragoo, MBA, CPA is Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Accounting Department. She graduated from Michigan State University with a joint BA-MBA Degree in the Program of Professional Accounting and as a member of the Honors College. She was promoted to Senior Business Assurance Associate with Coopers & Lybrand LLP (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers) in an audit career in the Greensboro, NC office after first working out of the Detroit, MI office. She obtained CPA licenses in both Michigan and Wisconsin. She started a teaching career at Edgewood College after moving back to the Midwest in 1998. Amie is also serving on the Returning Adult Accelerated Degree Program Council and as the faculty advisor for the Accounting Club.

Lynea Lavoy, EdD ‘11 is an adjunct professor in the School of Business and the Manager of Training & Development at TDS Telecom in Madison, WI. She holds an EdD in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College, an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Roosevelt University, and a BS in English and Communications from UW-La Crosse. Lynea, whose mother was recently diagnosed with Bulbar Onset ALS (commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease), is actively involved in raising awareness and advocacy through the The Diane Strassman Fund and the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter.
