MADISON—Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Paul Jadin today announced that Thomas G. Nardelli has been appointed as division administrator for the Safety & Buildings Division at Commerce.

“Tom Nardelli has a proven record of leadership and accomplishment,” said Secretary Jadin. “He will be a tremendous asset to my management team as we move to continue to promote public safety across Wisconsin.”

From August 2007-present, Nardelli served as Chief of Staff for then-County Executive Scott Walker, now Wisconsin’s governor. During that time he oversaw operations of the county executive’s cabinet and staff, assigning duties, monitoring legislation, and assisting with the development and review of the county executive’s proposed annual budget.

Prior to joining Walker’s staff, Nardelli was a member of the Milwaukee Common Council from 1986 to 2004. He served and chaired a number of committees, including Finance and Personnel. He also chaired the city’s Public Safety and Economic Development Committees from 2000 – 2004.

Nardell retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after over 26 years of service in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He is a member of the Milwaukee Broadcaster’s Club, as he was an on-air traffic reporter and announcer at WTMJ in the 19702 and guest-hosted radio talk shows on News Talk 1130 WISN until 2007.
