MADISON—Governor Scott Walker today announced that Brown County, on behalf of Ashland Avenue, LLC, has received a $1.5 million Recovery Zone Facility Bond allocation from the Department of Commerce to remodel and improve an existing facility in Ashwaubenon so that it can be used by WESCO Distribution, Inc., a national distribution company with eight locations in Wisconsin. The project will result in the creation of five new full-time positions for WESCO Distribution. WESCO presently has 31 full-time employees working in Ashwaubenon.

“I am pleased that we could help Ashland Avenue, LLC with this reuse project,” Governor Walker said. “Recovery Zone Facility Bonds can help further projects like this across Wisconsin. Companies like Ashland Avenue, LLC are helping our state take a leadership role in producing electrical product components and services.”

Ashland Avenue, LLC will remodel an existing 36,000 square-foot facility on Ashland Avenue in Ashwaubenon. The 45 year-old structure has been closed since 2006 and in need of significant repairs. It was once used by Olson Trucking for the repair of semi-trailers. The remodeling includes replacement of all mechanical systems, replacement of the roof, a complete exterior makeover, replacement of the parking lots, the addition of loading docks, and a complete remodeling of the interior to accommodate WESCO’s distribution operation. WESCO plans to achieve full production in the facility by the end of January, 2011.
