MADISON – Summer is here bringing warm weather, vacations, and fair season. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announced today the 2011 Wisconsin Fairs Entertainment Schedule.

Wisconsin is home to more than 75 county fairs, three district fairs, and one tremendous state fair. Fairs offer fun entertainment for the entire family at a low cost and close to home.

Traditions continue at fairs across Wisconsin. Horse pulls and harness racing can be found at some county fairs. The thrills continue with bull riding and stock car racing.

Many fairs offer opportunities to participate in activities such as singing at a karaoke contest, cooking in a bake-off, or smashing cars in a demo derby. Musical entertainment this season includes national stars and local talent. Some fairs include concert tickets in the daily admission.

Children can enjoy a pedal tractor pull or compete in 4-H and FFA projects. A few fairs offer very unique attractions such as lawn mower racing or a hypnotist show.

Make your plans today to attend a Wisconsin fair. The Entertainment Schedule is available online at http://datcp.wi.gov/uploads/Programs/pdf/FairEntertainment.pdf or by calling 608-224-5116. The information is compiled by DATCP and the Wisconsin Association of Fairs.
