BioForward: 2011 Bioscience Vision Summit sets stage for Wisconsin to be national leaders in bioscience

Event Date: September 8, 2011, Madison, Wisconsin

Madison, WI — Bioscience, academic and political leaders will gather this September 8, 2011 in Madison, Wisconsin for BioForward’s 2011 Bioscience Vision Summit. This year’s speaker lineup and session agenda is BioForward’s most innovative to date, featuring thought leaders from the agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical device, energy sectors and more.

To kick off the conference, Tomorrow’s Table authors Raoul Adamchak and Pamela Ronald, Ph.D., will discuss organic farming, genetics, and how to draw upon both to feed the world’s growing population. Ronald is professor at UC-Davis; her research has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and she has also been featured in the New York Times, CNN and National Public Radio. Her husband and co-author Adamchak, is an organic farmer and runs the UC-Davis student farm. The two will discuss the convergence of nature and science and the impact on our food ecosystem.

Also on tap at the Bioscience Vision Summit is a presentation of Ernst & Young’s 2011 Biotechnology Report, and updates on drug safety and integrity from a Deputy Director of the FDA. Other dynamic sessions will cover genomics, medical devices, bioenergy, bridge financing, and bioscience research in Wisconsin.

The Bioscience Vision Summit conference provides a unique opportunity for the media to engage public and private bioscience leadership in discussions about Wisconsin innovation and its impact on the Wisconsin and regional economy.
