Summer of Celebration Marks 30 Years of Service in Southeastern Wisconsin

Sussex, Wis. (May 19, 2011) – This month Beer Capitol Distributing, Inc. marks its 30th anniversary, a business milestone the company will celebrate through summer’s end to commemorate its years of service and entrepreneurial success in southeastern Wisconsin. Employees of Beer Capitol kick off the celebration at a Miller Park Tailgate event; customer appreciation events are planned later this summer.

The celebration follows the company’s facility expansion adding 120,000-square-feet of warehousing and office space and consolidation of operations in Sussex, Wis. Beer Capitol Distributing, Inc. and Beer Capitol Distributing – Lake Country merged late last year making the company the largest beer distributor in the state. Beer Capitol is managed by Chairman and CEO Aldo Madrigrano and President Mike Merriman.

“Our summer-long celebration is our way of saying thanks to our dedicated employees and cheers to the exceptional customers and beer brands we’ve serviced through the years,” says Madrigrano. “We’re proud to work with the best brands in the malt beverage industry and to continue our family’s tradition of best-in-class service and strong community ties.”

Serving 4,000 retailer and on-premise accounts in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties, Beer Capitol Distributing employs more than 350 people and had sales of nearly $190 million last year. Beer Capitol is the third largest MillerCoors distributor in the country for brands including Miller Lite and Coors Light and offers an extensive portfolio of import and craft brands from suppliers such as Crown Imports, Heineken, Ale Asylum, Capital Brewery, Lakefront Brewery, Pabst, Steven’s Point Brewery and Tyranena Brewing Company. Recently added suppliers include Mendocino Brewing Company and Fuller’s Brewery.

Beer Capitol Distributing was formed in 1981 when the Madrigrano family purchased the former Schlitz wholesaler City Sales. Capitalizing on growth opportunities in the market, a series of strategic acquisitions followed that included W.O.W. Distributing in 1985, Beloit Beverage Co. in 2007 and Miller Brands – Milwaukee LLC in 2008. In fact, Madrigrano traces his family’s roots in the beer business back 75 years to his grandfather Eugene who started as a beer wholesaler just after prohibition ended.

Recently Beer Capitol was named among Waukesha County’s Top 10 Businesses of the Year and a 2011 Upper Midwest Finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. These awards were earned for the company’s role in job creation, industry leadership and community service. Beer Capitol is a major local sponsor of numerous charities and events including the MAAC Fund, the Wisconsin State Fair, Summerfest, the Kettle Moraine Jazz Festival, the Milwaukee River Challenge, and numerous church festivals and alcohol responsibility initiatives. Beer Capitol also sponsors local sports teams including the Green Bay Packers, the 225 IndyCar Race at the Milwaukee Mile, and Milwaukee’s Brewers, Bucks, Mustangs, Wave and Admirals.

“We believe in forming long-standing relationships in the local communities in which we operate and in supporting the brands we sell,” adds Madrigrano looking ahead to the next 30 years. “We’ve not only survived but thrived on that basis and our success is owed to our outstanding employees, suppliers and customers who share that philosophy.”
