Bachmann Construction has started building the innovative Resilience Research Center, which will include the Badger Rock Middle School, a neighborhood center, commercial kitchen, roof gardens, MG&E photovoltaic technology demonstrations and more. The sustainable 50,000 square foot building, located on Rimrock Road, across from Badger Bowl, is designed according to LEED Platinum certification requirements. The four-acre agri-urban site will be used to grow food, teach healthy eating and cultivate a sustainable neighborhood.

Other primary contractors include Dimension IV (architects), InteriorLOGIC Facility Planning, Vierbicher Associates (civil engineers), WasteCap Wisconsin (recycling) and Robinson Brothers Environmental Inc, (demolition contractor). More than 90 per cent of the material obtained from demolishing the abandoned warehouse building on the site is being reused in the Resilience Research Center. The first phase will be completed this fall. http://www.resilientcities.org
