American Speed Association: McGrath Powersports sponsors the return of the ASA Midwest Tour to Hawkeye Downs Speedway on Friday, August 12th

The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and GrandStay Hospitality makes its second trip to Iowa within a week when they go to Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA for the Miller 100 presented by McGrath Powersports on Friday, August 12th.

This year’s Miller 100 is presented by McGrath Powersports of Cedar Rapids, IA. McGrath Powersports has been a supporter of the ASA Midwest Tour for several years and sponsors ASA Midwest Touring Star, Griffin McGrath. McGrath Powersports is happy to be able to continue that relationship by sponsoring the Miller 100.

“McGrath Powersports is very excited to be able to partner with Dudley Fleck and Fleck sales for the return of the Miller 100 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway,” said Mike McGrath, owner of McGrath Powersports.

The Miller 100 has always been the biggest race at Hawkeye Downs Speedway and has remained a tradition for over 35 years. The goal of the ASA Midwest Tour and McGrath Powersports is to bring the prominence of the Miller 100 back to the Cedar Rapids area and to maintain the tradition.

“We couldn’t have held this event at Hawkeye Downs without the help of McGrath Powersports and the Fleck family. Times are tough promoting asphalt racing, but when you have great support from guys like these, it makes it it easier to have a successful event,” said ASAMT VP, Steve Einhaus.

The Miller 100 means a great deal to Hawkeye Downs Speedway, McGrath Powersports, Fleck Sales and the ASA Midwest Tour. Everyone worked hard to get the event back on the schedule and all involved look forward to continuing the partnership in the future.

“Getting the race back on the schedule is due to the flexibility of the ASA Midwest Tour and the continued support of Dudley Fleck and Fleck Sales. Without both of them, the prestige of the Miller 100 would not be what it is this year,” added McGrath.

Einhaus is proud of the association with McGrath Powersports. “The McGrath racing team is a true example of what major sponsors are looking for when they search for the professional race partnership. McGrath Powersports represents themselves well and they do the best they can as a team, that is led by a very successful business owner and father, Mike McGrath,” said Einhaus. “It’s a pleasure having them as a part of the ASAMT.”

This year marks the 39th year of the event and the fifth consecutive year of the ASA Midwest Tour’s return. Steve Carlson has won every ASAMT event at the 1/2 mile oval and is looking to win his fifth straight and eighth overall Miller 100 victory.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway has been in operation since 1925, but until 1989, the track was dirt and ran under various names including Frontier Park and Cedar Rapids Speedway. When the track changed to asphalt in 1989, it became the state’s one and only weekly paved oval and remains the only one to this day.

Fans can receive $3 off admission by purchasing tickets in advance at McGrath Powersports. Ticket prices are only $15 for 13 years and older and 12 and under are FREE!!

Qualifying begins at 5:00PM, autograph session at 6:00PM and racing at 7:00PM.
