MADISON – Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that his office has obtained a stipulated judgment resolving a Dane County civil action filed against Steven M. Beck and Absolute Well & Pump Service, LLC. The civil complaint filed against the defendants on December 1, 2010, alleged that the defendants violated Wisconsin law by failing to submit 276 required well abandonment reports within 30 days of abandoning certain private wells during 2008. The civil complaint further alleges that the defendants installed new wells and performed pump work and failed to provide DNR and pump owners with water sample analysis within the legal requisite period of time.

The defendants have been ordered to pay $10,000 in forfeitures and statutory penalties.

Assistant Attorney General Cynthia R. Hirsch prosecuted the case. The settlement was approved by Dane County Circuit Court Judge John C. Albert.
