MADISON, Wis. (October 6, 2010) – Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC), a national leader in the design and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Arnon Allen as legal counsel.

“It is with great pleasure we announce the appointment of Tom Allen as WECC’s new legal counsel,” said Mary Woolsey Schlaefer, executive director for WECC. “With our great team of experts, we’re able to deliver an array of award winning programs and services because of the breadth of our technical and professional expertise. Tom is a great addition and will further enhance our ability to deliver exceptional programs and services to our clients.”

In his new role, Allen is responsible for all aspects of WECC’s legal matters and will help ensure WECC’s compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. He will also manage contracting functions in support of WECC programs. Given the breadth of work WECC undertakes, Allen will also assist in monitoring applicable policy developments in each of the jurisdictions in which WECC does business.

Allen brings over 18 years of legal experience – most recently with Erhard & Payette, LLC in Madison, Wis. – to WECC, including experience with a variety of business transactions, contract matters, employment law, legal compliance, intellectual property, and licensing issues. He has also held positions as Vice President, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel for RMT, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alliant Energy, and as General Counsel for Mandli Communications, Inc., as well as an attorney with Lee, Kilkelly, Paulson & Kabaker, S.C.

“I am excited to join the WECC team and lend my legal and business expertise to a team of energy efficiency and renewable energy professionals,” Allen said. “This is an ever-evolving industry, and I look forward to the challenge of staying at the cutting edge of developing award-winning efficiency programs while ensuring that WECC remains in compliance with rapidly changing federal, state, and local laws.”

Allen is a registered patent attorney and a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. While in law school, Allen was a member and editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and a recipient of two American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in the study of law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School graduating cum laude. He also holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
