MADISON – Governor Doyle on Wednesday signed into law the Wisconsin Energy Employment Act, which expands the technologies incorporated in the state Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS).

Phillip Prange, President and CEO of the Wisconsin Business Council, issued this statement following the news:

“By incorporating direct-use renewable technologies – like Orion’s Apollo® light pipe – into Wisconsin’s RPS, this legislation will help utilities maximize their use of renewable energy and help make state businesses more cost effective.

“In addition, this legislation promises to help create new, clean energy jobs in the state by putting many Wisconsin residents to work installing new renewable energy systems.”

“We applaud Governor Doyle, as well as legislative authors Senator Jeff Plale and Representative Ted Zigmunt, for making this important bill law.”
