Milwaukee, Wisconsin (December 20, 2010) — In today’s world, security threats are always changing and breaches are regularly making headlines. Effective technology governance is elusive to many organizations, but the cost of ignoring it is far too great. Recognizing these challenges, Wipfli LLP, a leading CPA and consulting firm with a strong industry practice focused on nonprofit and government organizations, today announced the launch of TechPro, a tool specifically created to help such organizations manage their information security and IT governance and mitigate risk. The tool delivers templates and IT and risk management best practices to users, leveraging the firm’s extensive experience and insight from working with hundreds of nonprofit and government organizations.

“From our work with nonprofit organizations, we know that in today’s environment, fundraising is more difficult and government funding is uncertain,” said Steve Lipton, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Nonprofit and Government Practice. “Wipfli understands the challenges nonprofit organizations are facing and cares about the organizations we serve, so we have created unique tools and services specifically for nonprofit organizations to help them meet funding source and regulatory needs, thus allowing them more time to focus on fulfilling their missions and serving their communities.”

Features in TechPro include:

* Policies, including acceptable use, application management, business continuity planning, data backup, document retention, information security controls, and risk management.

* Templates, including those for audit remediation tracking, an information security risk assessment, information security test plan, incident tracking, IT budget, and vendor management due diligence.

* Best practices, a result of collaborative efforts of our experts immersed in the nonprofit and government sectors and our highly knowledgeable technology and risk management professionals.

“We have seen first-hand what works and what doesn’t, and have drawn from those insights, along with our knowledge of various requirements or regulations specific to nonprofit and government organizations, to create this tool.” said Bob Cedergren, leader of Wipfli’s risk management practice. “The policy templates alone cover the cost of the product. Our clients would have to pay thousands of dollars to create these from scratch and still not have the robust program TechPro offers. We’re excited to package these with industry best practices at a price point our clients can afford.”

The cost of the tool is $495 per license. TechPro is just one of several tools the firm has created to help nonprofit organizations or grant-funded programs. The list of tools includes FinPro (a tool to help create up-to-date and compliant financial and accounting policies and procedures), HRPro (a tool to help create up-to-date and compliant human resource policies and procedures), and GovPro (a tool that helps Head Start agencies create and manage their governance policies and procedures) .
