Contest is part of financial’s new ‘DoMore’ social media initiative
MADISON, Wis. —Building upon its new ‘DoMore’ social media initiative, Summit Credit Union held a contest on FaceBook, awarding Madison resident, Janine Phomsavanh, a FlipCamera for her inspiring response regarding how she would pay off debt, plan for her future and do something great for her family.
Designed to build awareness of its seven-month-long Project Money reality-based financial challenge which kicked off in June, the contest asked folks what they would do to improve their lives with $10,000 (Note: $10,000 is the grand prize to be awarded to the Project Money finalist in January 2011).
Between Sept. 16-22, 2010, 39 contestants posted their answers on Summit’s DoMore FaceBook wall at http://www.Facebook.com/SummitDoMore. Phomsavanh indicated that if she had $10,000, she would use it to pay off her auto loan, start a Roth IRA, take her closest family on a mini-vacation and start a savings account for her soon-to-be-born baby.
“The contest really inspired people to think outside-of-the-box about how they could do more with their money,” said Rebecca Gerothanas, senior vice president – marketing at Summit Credit Union. “The responses ranged from giving to charities and helping others to paying down debt and refinancing loans, and we hope that they will be an inspiration to others.”
