Financial continues fundraising efforts as pace of giving begins to fade

MADISON, Wis. —The Associated Press recently reported a concern that donations for Haiti have begun to slow down since the catastrophic earthquake hit three weeks ago, despite the ongoing, dire need for emergency relief.

In the spirit of the credit union philosophy, “people helping people,” Summit Credit Union is continuing its fundraising efforts at its 20 branch locations, where $2,300 has been collected to date, all of which is being sent to The American Red Cross to help the people of Haiti rebuild and recover.

Additionally, Summit has made a corporate donation of $10,000 to the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), which has offices in Haiti and is on the ground providing relief efforts.

Summit will continue to collect donations to help Haitian disaster victims rebuild their lives and communities at all branch locations. Summit Credit Union members with deposit accounts may also make a donation by calling (608) 243-5000 or (800) 236-5560.
