Region’s efforts to develop cluster strategy around business pay off

GREEN BAY, July 12, 2010 – A recent report published by Insight Magazine highlighted the specific success the New North, Inc. has had with its regional strategy for growing industries by building on the clusters the region has in place.

The report, which was published in the July edition of the publication, highlighted successful clusters in the region related to the wind industry, marine industry, bio fuels and a variety of advanced manufacturing efforts.

According to the report, “The clusters not only strengthen the participating businesses, but also the region’s overall economy, since they draw attention to the region and its infrastructure.”

“The success we’ve seen with the growth of the wind industry is probably the best example of our philosophy of clusters at work,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc.

“What started out as a list of companies involved in the supply chain side of the industry has grown into an organization of companies now working to market the region as a destination for OEM’s in the wind industry looking to set up shop.”

Information about the success of, and creation of, industry clusters in the region can be found in the report, which is available for review online at the following address: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/insight/iob_201007/#/66
