Collaboration with Milwaukee 7, State of Wisconsin helped make Ingeteam plant a reality

NEW NORTH, February 15, 2009 – The New North on Monday expressed its excitement over the announcement that Ingeteam, a Spanish wind and solar component manufacturer, has decided to build a new plant in Milwaukee.

“By working closely with officials from Milwaukee 7 and the State of Wisconsin, we’ve shown that our state is among the best places in the world for wind energy companies to do business,” said Jerry Murphy, Executive Director of the New North, Inc.

The energy division of Ingeteam, based in Zamudio, Spain, primarily is centered around the design and manufacture of power converters, electric generation, and control equipment for the wind energy, solar, hydroelectric, and biofuel sectors.

The company’s new Milwaukee plant is expected to create hundreds of jobs for the area.

The New North, Inc. collaborated with the Milwaukee 7 and the State of Wisconsin, utilizing the Wisconsin Wind Works supply chain directory, to promote Wisconsin’s component manufacturing assets to attract Ingeteam to the state.

“We’re very excited about the Ingeteam announcement, and this just goes to show how Wisconsin’s regional economic development organizations, the wind industry, and the State of Wisconsin can come together to successfully focus on these targeted growth opportunities,” Murphy said.

New North, Inc. is a regional collaboration effort focused on promoting regional cooperation and economic development in an 18-county region in Northeast Wisconsin.
