MillerCoors, Milwaukee Riverkeeper: Team up for water stewardship

Volunteers to clean-up area along river that was damaged by summer floods

MILWAUKEE (September 22, 2010) – MillerCoors and Milwaukee Riverkeeper are teaming up this weekend to clean the area along the Milwaukee River near Lincoln Park, a popular recreational area in the city. MillerCoors volunteers are joining together with friends and family to celebrate the company’s second annual Water Stewardship Month.

A group of employees, led by Plant Manager Andy Moschea and President & CEO of newly-formed Tenth and Blake Beer Company Tom Cardella, will clean up the Lincoln Park area which was hit hard by the record flooding this past July. The flooding and excess water left behind debris, garbage and refuse along the banks of the river and throughout the park.

MillerCoors is committed to reducing the water used in its brewery operations as well as protecting and preserving local watersheds. The brewery has a long history of volunteering with Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Additionally, the brewery installed a green roof on one of the brewery buildings last fall to help reduce stormwater runoff into the river.
