-Annual event has raised over $250,000 for Wisconsin Dells High School Music Program since 2006-

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (July 21, 2010) – Kalahari Resort and Trappers Turn Golf Club will hold the annual Golf For a Song fundraiser Thursday, August 12. This year’s event will raise funds for a series of scholarships for Wisconsin Dells High School students. The outing includes 18-holes of golf at Trappers Turn, a cart with user-friendly GPS, use of the practice facility, complimentary lunch buffet, deluxe appetizer reception, prizes, putting contest and a number of raffles. The 2009 event raised nearly $70,000 for the Wisconsin Dells High School music program and nearly 175 golfers participated.

“We are excited to be able to benefit such a worthy cause,” said Todd Nelson, President and owner of Kalahari Resort and Trappers Turn Golf Club. “Music education is an important community asset, and Kalahari is dedicated to helping enrich the lives of our local students.”

The money raised at the 2009 Golf For a Song event allowed the Wisconsin Dells High School to produce a musical for the first time in nearly 30 years. The funds raised have also been used for instrument repairs, new band room chairs and other supplies that help to enhance the overall quality of the school’s music programs.

“The impact that Golf For a Song has had on our music programs has been tremendous, every student at our school has been able to enjoy the benefits of this event,” said Marti Fults, band director and music department chair at Wisconsin Dells High School.

Over the past years, Golf For a Song has allowed Wisconsin Dells High School to offer instruments to every student interested in participating in the school’s music programs, has purchased new band uniforms, 30 classroom keyboards, supplies and much more.

Nelson has been a supporter of the Wisconsin Dells High School music program for many years; as owner of the Pizza Pub he donated a dollar from every spaghetti dinner sold. Though Nelson no longer owns the local restaurant the current owner continues to donate to the program as well.
