(Madison, WI) The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) is accepting applications through January 10, 2011 for youth grants designed to introduce Dane County children 17 years old and younger to the lifelong enjoyment and health benefits of sports.

The MASC, launched by the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau in September 2010, is the area’s official sports marketing organization formed to increase tourism spending by bringing sporting events and competitions to the Greater Madison area.

The youth grants will be awarded in February 2011 to established organizations or individuals served by organizations. The mission of the MASC Youth Grant Program is to provide opportunities for area youth, who may have financial limitations, to experience the benefits of sports.

“I was lucky to be introduced to a sport at an early age so I feel strongly about the opportunity this program offers youth in our community,” said Joel Weitz, PGA Professional and MASC Board Member.

The MASC Youth Grant Program is funded by contributions from the Ironman Community Foundation, private donors and corporations. To learn more about this program, or to download an application visit http://www.madisonsports.org/youthgrant.
