(Madison, WI) On Sunday, August 8, 2010 Centurion Cycling comes to our community for one of three races taking place in North America. This is a high quality, European-style cycling race with three separate courses allowing various skill-levels and experiences to participate and enjoy.

The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the Official Host Partner, has been working with North America Sports, the event organizers, for two years to bring this European Gran Fondo style racing event to the community. Centurion Cycling debuted this year with the first race taking place last month in Boulder, CO. The Wisconsin race is the second, and the final race of the series will be held on September 18-19 in Blue Mountains, Ontario, Canada. Middleton will host the start and finish for the Wisconsin race, as well as the Centurion Wisconsin registration, expo and bistro Saturday, August 7th through Sunday, August 8th.

“We are excited to welcome this high caliber cycling race and its entrants to this destination, says Deb Archer, GMCVB President & CEO. “Staging this new event required extensive collaboration and cooperation among many Dane County communities and government entities and all have risen to the occasion,” adds Archer.

Archer says “Our destination continues to attract world class sporting events such as this. The Madison region’s active and fit citizens, beautiful landscapes and superb facilities contribute to this destination’s ability to host events with opportunity to generate high financial impact for area businesses.”

Registration will remain open until race time. Please go to http://www.centurioncycling.com for more information or to register as a participant.
