MADISON — Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Village of Tigerton, Shawano County, will receive a $147,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant–Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to fund installation of sanitary sewers, storm sewers, curb and gutter and street improvements in conjunction with the repaving of County Highway J, also known as Grand Street.

“It is essential for Wisconsin communities to have reliable sewer systems and safe, up-to-date infrastructure,” Governor Doyle said. “Making these improvements during the highway repaving makes good sense economically, and will contribute to the overall health and well being of the community.”

The project involves reconstruction of CTH J, Sunrise Road and Spaulding Street which will include 3,000 linear feet of curb and gutter, 9,000 sq-ft of sidewalk, 1,700 linear feet of 8” sanitary sewer and 20 sanitary lateral services. The project is expected to be completed by May 31, 2010. Project costs are expected to total $394,000.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
