Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk issued the following statement regarding Governor Doyle’s announcement that he has chosen the state Department of Administration Building adjacent to Monona Terrace as the location for the new high-speed rail station in Madison:

“Governor Doyle’s decision keeps us on course for taking advantage of the Midwest’s first high-speed rail system that will create by the end of this year good-paying, local jobs and economic development opportunities in communities across southern Wisconsin. We will now move ahead locally with transportation plans to ensure that our first train station in 40 years is an efficient, commuter-friendly transit hub that interconnects with cars, buses, taxis and bikes and in the future local commuter trains.”
