MADISON — AIA Wisconsin, the state society of The American Institute of Architects, will hold its 79th annual Convention & Building Products Expo on April 28 & 29 at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center in Madison.

The theme for the 2010 AIA Wisconsin Convention & Expo is “CATALYST.” This year’s Convention features a program of outstanding speakers, timely seminars and special events in a two-day professional development opportunity that will provide a “catalyst” for members and allied design and construction industry professionals.

According to Rhinelander architect and conference chair Daryl Dean, AIA, “Our profession and those connected to it are facing new challenges and difficult economic conditions.” By offering a collaborative environment for networking and learning, the AIA Wisconsin Convention and Expo continues the tradition of being a source for professional development, Dean says.

Convention keynote speakers include award-winning architects Joshua Prince-Ramus, New York, Julie Snow, FAIA, Minneapolis; and David Miller, FAIA, Seattle.

Professional development seminars will focus on emerging design, practice and sustainability topics. Other special Convention events will include the presentation of AIA Wisconsin Design Awards, for excellence in architectural design, and Golden Award, for distinguished service to the profession of architecture,

The Building Products Expo will feature over 150 displays by the leading manufacturers and suppliers of products and services for Wisconsin’s design and construction industry.
