UW-Madison: Sustainability to be focus of annual bioethics forum

MADISON – Sustainability will be the focus of the eighth annual International Bioethics Forum to be held in Madison Thursday and Friday, April 23 and 24.

The forum, sponsored jointly by the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute (BTCI), Promega Corp. and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, is intended to provide the public with access to accurate scientific information and discussion of related social and ethical issues.

Featured speakers at this year’s forum include Jamie P. Cloud of the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education; Calvin B. DeWitt and Lewis S. Gilbert of UW-Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies; Regina Hauser of the Natural Step Network; Mary Ann Lazarus of HOK, a leading architectural and design firm that specializes in sustainable design; and Paul B. Thompson of Michigan State University.

The Bioethics Forum is open to the public and will be held at the BioPharmaceutical Technology Center, 5445 E. Cheryl Parkway in the Fitchburg Center, just off Fish Hatchery Road. The registration fee is $75.
