MADISON, WIS. (December 2, 2009) — Stevens Construction Corp. is heading up the construction efforts for two of the largest, privately held developments in downtown Madison currently: Park Regent Apartments and The Depot.

Both projects will require hundreds of thousands of work hours, and will employ many from other companies in the Madison area. “The realization is that now is a great time to build,” says Geoffrey Vine, President of Stevens Construction. “Getting all that Stevens has to offer combined with current material and subcontractor pricing is a great value.”

As a result, Stevens Construction is leading a return to work for the construction industry with its entire field labor force gainfully employed. Vine adds, “On behalf of Stevens and our subcontractors and suppliers, I want to thank the owners of both projects for the work these developments provide.”

For the owner of Park Regent Apartments, Tom Degen, of Degen and Associates in Madison, and the owners of The Depot, John and Dave Meier, the decision to award Stevens Construction was based on Stevens’ experience with these type of developments and its high quality of self-performed work. Construction for both projects is currently underway.  Park Regent Apartments, located at the corner of Park Street and Regent Street, is a mixed-use development with five levels containing 65 apartment units, one floor of retail space and one level of underground parking. Completion date is July 15, 2010.

The Depot is a phased completion of three buildings located on West Washington Avenue, previous site of the Badger Bus Station. Building One will offer four levels of apartments and one level of retail space. Building Two provides four levels of apartments and is attached to Building Three which will consist of four two-story town homes and two apartments on the third level. One level of underground parking will serve all three buildings, with a three-level connector link joining Building One and Two. The connector contains office space and an exercise facility. A total of 85 residential units will be available. Building One will be completed July 15, 2010, Building Two July 31, 2010, and Building Three August 15, 2010.

The architect for Park Regent Apartments is Eppstein Uhen Architects. The architect for The Depot is Randy Bruce of Knothe & Bruce.
