Levit will serve his second six-year term

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (May 13, 2009).  The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. is pleased to announce Governor Jim Doyle has reappointed William H. Levit, Jr. to a second six-year term on the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB).  Levit will continue to serve as one of nine Trustees.  He chairs the Strategic Planning and Corporate Governance Committee and serves on the Compensation Committee.

SWIB is responsible for investing the assets of the Wisconsin Retirement System, State Life Insurance Fund, Local Government Property Insurance Fund, State Historical Society of Wisconsin Endowment Trust Fund, Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund, Tuition Trust Fund, EdVest and the State Investment Fund.  SWIB has over $66 billion under management and is one of the ten largest public pension plans in the United States.  Levit’s pro bono service on the Board demonstrates his commitment to the continued well being of many Wisconsin residents. 

Bill Levit is the senior member of Godfrey & Kahn’s Litigation Practice Group and has substantial experience in all kinds of complex litigation including antitrust, securities, distributor relations, licensing, unfair competition, insurance, insolvency regulation, and coverage disputes, professional liability, intellectual property, shareholder disputes, corporate governance counseling and ADR.
