February 20, 2009, Madison, Wisconsin – One Erdman Place, owned and managed by The Gialamas Company, has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) prestigious ENERGY STAR, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. One Erdman Place achieved LEED “Gold Certification from the USGBC in May 2008.

“The Gialamas Company has implemented green design and construction practices as part of their design philosophy for over a decade and is pleased to accept EPA’s ENERGY STAR rating, says George Gialamas, President.”

Commercial buildings that earn the ENERGY STAR use an average of 40 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The Gialamas Company improves energy performance in all owned developments by managing energy strategically and by making cost effective improvements to already existing buildings.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, The Gialamas Company and Erdman Company collected data regarding size and location of building, number of occupants, PC’s, and types of equipment used. Energy consumption was tracked for 11 months.

EPA’s national energy performance rating system provides a 1-100 scale that helps organizations assess how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide. A building that scores 75 or higher is eligible for the ENERGY STAR. For more information about ENERGY STAR visit http://www.energystar.gov.
