MADISON — Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the City of Loyal, Clark County, will receive a $235,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant–Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce to fund the construction of three new production wells and a treatment facility.

“I am pleased today to announce this investment in the City of Loyal’s water system that will create jobs for hardworking families and improve the water that its residents drink every day,” Governor Doyle said.

The three new wells will replace a current well that was constructed in 1908. Additional funds will be used to connect dead-end water mains, increasing the system’s reliability. Construction of a treatment facility will help maintain the quality of the city’s water supply. Project cost is expected to total $1,154,800.

CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
