American cities are “growing green.” Proactive energy planning conserves energy, reduces costs and provides significant tax savings. “Minimizing Energy Consumption and Maximizing Tax Deductions – Why It Pays to Build Green” is the title of a free online Webinar to be presented by Clifton Gunderson – ranked as one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and consulting firms – on May 6, 2009. During this Webinar you will discover how to develop a “green” building and how to take advantage of energy efficient tax savings opportunities.

The presenters:

Robert J. Nowak, Jr., CPA, MST, Senior Tax Manager

Nowak has more than 15 years of experience assisting construction contractors with tax, mitigation, transactional planning, and other consulting issues. He is a member of the firm Construction Service Group and is the tax services leader for Greater Chicagoland. His extensive construction experience allows him to write and publish articles in Clifton Gunderson’s Construction & Real Estate Insight newsletter. Nowak is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, Home Builders Association of Greater Chicagoland (HBAGC), Chicago Building Congress (CBC), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the Builders Association. Nowak graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with his Bachelors of Science in Accountancy and holds a Master of Taxation from DePaul University.

Donald Fournier is the Chair and a Senior Researcher at the School of Architecture’s Building Research Council. He is also the program manager of the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also performs research and consults in the areas of sustainable design and development, green building, environmental sustainability based on risk assessment due to urban development pressures, strategic sustainability assessment, strategic energy planning and energy security, tribal energy, energy efficiency, and energy management. Fournier is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts (BSEE & MSME) and has more than thirty years of experience in the energy and environmental areas.
