ZBB Energy Corporation Unveils Commercial Product Name for Zinc Energy Storage Systems at Presentation in Monaco

The Future of Energy Storage Is Now Known as ZESS: Zinc Energy Storage Systems

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — ZBB Energy Corporation (AMEX:ZBB) today announced that it has introduced the commercial product platform ZESS, the Zinc Energy Storage System. The announcement came at the CleanEquity Monaco 2008 Emerging Environmental Technology Conference.

The new name more accurately describes the function of ZBB’s regenerative fuel cell type product as well as its high performance as a green, renewable energy storage system, said Rob Parry, CEO of ZBB Energy Corporation. Since its founding, ZBB Energy Corporation has become the premier manufacturer of zinc electrolyte “flow battery” technology, a unique, proprietary 50 kWh energy module that can be sized and packaged as a fully customized, large format energy storage system.

“We wanted a name that is more descriptive of our zinc energy storage system,” Parry said. “ZESS reflects the system’s make-up as well as its versatility as an energy storage system. ZESS is a green energy storage system that is manufactured from plastics that are recyclable, is highly compatible with wind and solar to store and then re-supply generated power during high demand periods and can be used to eliminate damage to utility infrastructure during peak demand periods.

“The zinc energy storage system is the future of energy storage.”

The ZESS 50 is a 50kWh storage system based on ZBB’s core module and the ZESS 500 is a 500kWh storage system utilizing ten of these core modules into one larger industrial product.

Winner of the 2006 Frost and Sullivan Technical Innovation of the Year Award, ZBB’s ZESS products provide superior technical performance at a significantly lower overall cost than other batteries such as traditional lead-acid other energy storage sources. ZBB’s core module is an aqueous flow system using a circulation loop to continuously feed reactants to the module’s three cell stacks.
