UWSP: Economic outlook conference set in Wausau

A webcast on the regional and national economic outlook will be offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Center for Leadership Excellence and Economic Development in Wausau on Friday, Sept. 12.

The Economic Outlook Conference 2008 will be webcast from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the center, located at 200 Washington Street in Suite 100. It will feature four noted economists in Madison discussing economic factors that affect both the region and the nation as well as mid- and long-term trends.

The featured speakers include:

· Charles Payne, the chief executive offer and principle analyst of Wall Street Strategies, Inc. and a regular contributor to the Fox News Network. His new book, “Act Fast, Be Smart and Get Rich,” debuted in April 2007.

· Anirvan Banerji, director of research at the Economic Cycle Research Institute and a trusted adviser to Fortune 500 companies, major fund managers and government agencies throughout the world. Banerji appears on CNN’s “Moneyline,” CNBC and NPR and has been featured in Money magazine and The Economist.

· Doug Ramsey, a capital manager for Leuthold Weeden and a member of the company’s investment strategy committee.

· Clare Zempel, a principal for Zempel Strategic, former director of investment policy, chief investment strategist and chief economist for Robert W. Baird and Co., Inc. and former chief economist for the First Wisconsin Corporation (now U.S. Bank).
