Student organizations lend helping hand to HealthNet of Janesville

WHITEWATER Sometimes the best reward one can receive is the knowledge that
they made a difference in someone¹s life.  The members of the University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater chapters of the American Marketing Association (AMA)
and Creative Marketing Unlimited (CMU) understand this concept and hope to
reflect this knowledge on as many lives as they can in the Rock County area.

The groups have been working with HealthNet of Janesville, a free or low
cost primary dental and healthcare organization for underprivileged citizens
of Rock County.  HealthNet consists of a staff of eight doctors and 20
nurses, but due to an ever-increasing client base, their most valuable
employees are the volunteers that assist them in everyday activities.

In the fall of 2007, members of the AMA collectively donated 75 hours of
their time to assist the employees of HealthNet with filing, data-entry and
other miscellaneous clinical duties.

³This community service opportunity was beneficial because it allowed me to
volunteer as well as gain professional work experience,² said AMA member
Ryan Waldorf. ³I am looking forward to continuing my volunteering with
HealthNet this spring.²

AMA will be joined this spring in their volunteering efforts by CMU.

Together, the two groups are trying to develop a fund-raising program to
help increase HealthNet¹s resource base.  The members of CMU will also be
modifying HealthNet¹s Web site in order to enhance community awareness and
to establish a greater presence in local hospitals and clinics.
